Italy: Eagles midfielder misses seven-goal thriller

Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi was left on the bench for 90 minutes as his team Parma on Wednesday night September 25 2013 secured their first win of the season in a seven-goal thriller at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Parma who ended the Week 5 tie with a man less defeated Atalanta 4-3 to move to 13th spot on the Serie A table.

Despite the amount of goals, it took 19 minutes for the opener to go in as Parma’s Djamel Mesbah fired into the top corner from distance to delight of the home fans.

Atalanta responded immediately and Giacomo Bonaventura netted from inside the box after being found by a German Denis knock-down.

Parma were soon back in front when in the 28th minute Antonio Cassano played in Marco Parolo, who made no mistake slotting the ball into the corner.

Aleandro Rosi extended Parma's lead with a low shot from the edge of the box before Parolo made it 4-1 with five minutes of the first half to play.

Late rally

German Denis gave the visitors a fighting chance as he got one back on the stroke of the break, and despite a red card for Amauri Atalanta could not get back into the game despite a third through Marko Livaja with 10minutes  to play.
