Manchester United welcome Sevilla to the Theatre of Dreams for what boss Jose Mourinho has called a “more important game than Liverpool” and a “die or live” game.
The Red Devils come into this match feeding off the confidence of having bested bitter rivals Chelsea and Liverpool since the first leg clash against the Spanish side, which some claim the English giants barely managed to survive.
Sevilla will, on the other hand, be out to join Premier League champions-elect Manchester City as the only side to beat United at home in the ongoing campaign. Jose Mourinho’s side has lost just one of their 20 home games to the league leaders this season.
Star midfielder Paul Pogba remains a huge doubt for the match after being left out of their recent 2-1 win over Liverpool alongside fellow midfield maestro Ander Herrera, who is battling a hamstring injury.
Forward Anthony Martial and defender Daley Blind are huge doubts for the fixture, though Mourinho has confirmed that the former is fit to return to action after being absent for a two-game stint.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Phil Jones are also expected to miss the clash. The former has resumed training but is not being rushed back while the latter is carrying a knock. Marouane Fellaini is in contention to play after recovering from a troublesome knee injury.
The visitors will, on the other hand, be without the services of former City goalie Jesus Navas, who was expected to be available for the match but failed a late fitness test with a calf injury.
Defenders Lionel Carole and Sebastien Corchia will also be absent with calf and groin injuries respectively.
Man United: De Gea; Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Valencia; Fellaini, Matic, McTominay; Sanchez, Rashford; Lukaku
Sevilla: Rico; Escudero, Lenglet, Mercado, Carrico; Banega, N’Zonzi; Correa, Vasquez, Sarabia; Muriel
The hosts will have to ensure that their defense is up to the task or risk gifting their opponents a goal since it has been questionable in recent matches despite the pairings that Mourinho has tried to come up with in recent weeks.
We, however, expect United to put up a dominant performance at home en route to a win in front of their adoring fans.
