Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil’s representative, Dr Erkut Sogut has reportedly disclosed that he recently had promising negotiations with the English side with regards to a contract extension.
In an interview with a Turkish news outlet, Sogut admitted that he has been in ‘contact’ with the club and that a solution appears to be at the horizon, further adding that Ozil ‘wants to play in the Premier League for two to three more years’.
The bigwig also revealed that the 28-year-old was recently ‘glad’ to hear that Turkish giants Besiktas are interested in acquiring his services but that that the defending Super Lig champions are yet to make any offers for the playmaker.
Ozil, who is currently battling a knee injury, has less than a year left on his current deal at the Emirates after Arsene Wenger’s side rejected a proposed £300,000-a-week pay package demanded by the former Real Madrid ace, and looks set to re-sign with the Gunners for considerably less.
