Everton chief Ronald Koeman has apologised to Toffees fans for their disheartening 3-0 defeat to Atalanta.
The English side put in a under-par performance in the Europa League group stage fixture, allowing their opponents to run amok with three goals within the first half of the underwhelming match to put themselves in the driver’s seat ahead of the leg scheduled for November 23.
A downcast Koeman humbly took responsibility for the loss and later admitted in a social media post that his squad had ‘a really poor first half in all aspects’ and played ‘without the right attitude’, which put them at a disadvantage against their highly motivated and ‘passionate’ opponents.
The tactician added that the match provided a ‘big lesson’, which will force him to go back to the drawing board to evaluate what he did wrong so that the team avoids such disappointing outcomes moving forward.
