FC IfeanyiUbah wrapped up their travels in the first half of the season with a trip to the capital of the food basket of the nation for the NPFL Matchday 18 clash against former Nigerian Champions Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
Coach Yaw Preko made five changes to the side that defeated Sunshine Stars last week as Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa made a return to the team with Nwabili Valentine, Adou Blaise, Kone Yaya and Msonter Tony all making the starting 11.
The game was decided by the most resolute of margins ending in a scoreless draw as the Ortom boys tried all they could throughout the duration of the game but couldn't break the deadlock.
The first half started on a little bit of a slow note as chances were few and far between the two sides but for David Tyavkase's shot which was saved by Ezenwa and Tony Okpotu who scored but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Then for FC IfeanyiUbah the bicycle kick by Seka Pascal which was saved by Goalkeeper John Lawrence and MOTM Adeleye's header which was cleared off the line were the main talking points of the first 45 minutes.
The second half started on a ferocious note as both teams came out to annex all the points in the offing and Lobi Stars were the side with more of the chances but the resolute defence of FC IfeanyiUbah spearheaded by MOTM Adeleye Olamilekan kept the likes of Okpotu, Akleche and even substitute Imenger at bay.
The defence lineup of Elu, Adeleye, Adou and Nwabili were sometimes breached, but the ever present Ezenwa was the lone man preventing the warriors from conceding as he made tremendous saves including one from Tyavkase, one from Imenger and the 83rd minute belter from Kwambe that looked to be headed into the net.
All in all the second half was an array of chances and exquisite display of football artistry that showcases the best of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
FC IfeanyiUbah are now 8th on the log with 25 points from 18 matches and will face Shooting Stars in the last game of the first half of the season.
